Generate electricity from a potato and light up an LED. One of the most popular STEM activity for school children across India.
Cut the potato in half — each half becomes one battery cell
Push a copper washer into one side and a zinc washer into the other side of each half
Connect the copper of one cell to the zinc of the next using gator clips
Attach the LED to the final terminals — positive to copper side, negative to zinc
Observe the LED light up — the potato acts as the electrolyte generating current
